Welcome to Class One home to EYFS and Year 1

Mrs Ryan and Mrs Rich

We are really looking forward to sharing your learning journey with you this year and have lots of exciting opportunities planned full of fun, challenge and discovery.

In the first few weeks we are looking forward to welcoming our new EYFS children and their families, exploring the different ways we will learn in Year 1 bonding as a class and setting ourselves achievable targets.

Here is a little bit about each of the teaching staff in class 1.

Mrs Ryan: I have always been passionate about teaching and have taught at various schools within Cheshire. I have taught each of the primary age groups throughout my career and love working with EYFS and KS1. I enjoy learning new things along with the children and have introduced the use of Makaton within the classroom and whole school community. I am also an avid reader and LOVE to share stories old and new!

Mrs Rich: I'm Mrs Rich. I have worked at Dodleston Primary for 10 years in Class 1. I have worked with groups across all years in KS 1. I love working both inside and outside and can probably be found gardening or in the mud kitchen with messy play!

We can’t wait to begin our fabulous year of learning together.

We will be using rich high quality texts with fabulous illustrations to inspire our discussion and develop our knowledge in each curriculum area:

PE

Our PE sessions are on Wednesday and Friday (one session will be taught by a sports coach from Full of Beans and the other by Mrs Ryan).

On PE days children can wear their PE Kit, please ensure children have suitable PE kit for outdoor PE.

Homework

Homework will be set on a Friday and is to be returned to school on a Wednesday.

As part of homework, your child is expected to read regularly at home; reading books from home, school, and the library. Children will also have a Book Bingo, which is a list of recommended reads to support them in choosing a range of books to read.
