Class Two 2024 - 2025

  Welcome to Class 2 - the home of Year 2

Mrs Batchelor

My name is Mrs Batchelor and I am the class teacher.  I have been teaching at Dodleston for 8 years.  Before that I worked as a speech and language teaching assistant and taught English as a Foreign Language.

I am passionate about communication.  I love supporting children to express themselves, teaching music and French and creating art through textiles.

Outside school, I am mum to three grown up girls and I play the piano at our church.  I enjoy spending time in Denmark, hiding away with a new book, discovering new walks in the countryside and making quilts. 

I can't wait to see what we will discover about God’s Amazing World this year. 

Our Curriculum- AUTUMN and SPRING TERM

PE

PE lessons are on Tuesday and Thursday.  On PE days, children are to come into school dressed in their PE kit.

Homework

Homework comes home in homework books on Friday and is due in on a Wednesday.  There is homework bingo where the children can choose from a selection of activities linked  to our curriculum this term.  Each term's spellings and the year's high frequency books are also in the homework book for regular practice.  

Reading books are changed each Thursday and the children can also choose a book from the Book Bingo to share and enjoy with their families .

Maths Fluency:  Each child has a SumDog password and we encourage them to practice regularly at home.

Timestables

By the end of each year the children are expected know the timestable facts securely for certain tables.  This means that they know 3x2 = 6 2x3=   6 ÷ 2 = 3. Year 2 are introduced to the multiplication and division symbols towards the end of Autumn Term and when they have covered tasks will be set on Sumdog to build up quick recognition fluency.
